Turkey Burgers with Old Fashioned Coleslaw

 

 1 Lb. lean ground Turkey Breast 500 g 
 1 small onion, finely chopped 1
 1  clove garlic, minced 
 2 egg whites or 1 whole egg 2
 1 Cup fresh whole wheat or white bread crumbs
 1 tsp salt   5 mL 
 1/2 tsp EACH pepper and ground cumin 2 ml 
 2 tbsp

 ketchup

 2 tbsp
 2 tbsp  oyster sauce, optional

 2 tbsp

 6 kaiser rolls or sesame buns 6

In a large fbowl, combine turkey, onion, garlic, egg whites, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, cumin and ketchup. Mix well and shape into 6 patties about 1/2 inch ( 1 cm) thick. Brush burgers all over with oyster sauce. Barbeque or broil utill cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. Top each burger with large spoonfuls of coleslaw and seve on buns.

Old Fashioned Coleslaw

Combine 1 grated small cabbage, 1 grated carrot and 3 finely chopped green onions. In small saucepan, bring 1/3 cup / 76 ml cider vinegar, 2 tbsp / 25 ml granulated sugar and 2 tbsp / 25 ml vegetable oil (optional) to boil. Toss hot dressing with cabbage mixture and season with salt and pepper to taste. Makes about 4 cups / 1L.
